Book events make winter warmer
Dear friends, 2025 has been quite the wild ride already. I’ve been seeking winter sun and movement outside as much as possible to help balance the demands of inside work and general concern about the world.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for my Boots & Bites event at Bierly Brewing late last month. It was a lovely evening. Every time I get to talk about FARM-RAISED KIDS, I am reminded of how much our community has supported our farm family over the years.
If you missed that recent event, don’t fret! I have two more events coming up in February:
This Saturday, February 15 I’ll be leading a panel discussion about farming and parenting at the OSU Small Farms Conference in Corvallis, Oregon! This is my favorite farm conference ever — it brings together diverse farmers from the northwest to connect and learn (and eat some really amazing seasonal farm-fresh food). I attended for the first time in 2006 and have been again as a participant and presenter many, many times since. It’s been amazing to watch the conference attendance grow in that time — it’s a testament to the small farm renaissance in our region. This year, I’m excited to have several other awesome Oregon farmers join me for the panel discussion: Christina Menchini of Campfire Farms (who is also featured in FARM-RAISED KIDS), Chris Overbaugh and Shannon Shipp-Overbaugh of Winter Green Farm, and Kara Gilbert of Vibrant Valley Farm. I can’t wait to talk about all the highs and lows of balancing family life with farming with these awesome experienced farmers. Join us!
And, next Saturday, February 22 I have a book event at The Book Bin in Salem, Oregon! My old friend Elizabeth Miller of Minto Island Growers will be joining me for a conversation about FARM-RAISED KIDS, farming and family life, publishing, and more. You can order copies of both my books ahead of the event and I will be signing afterward! Join us!
Hope to connect with some of my local friends at one of these events. May you find warmth and comfort through the rest of February and beyond.
With gratitude,
Katie
